When you start a virtual machine, you get the following error:
Virtual machine “xxxxx could not be started because the hypervisor is not running”
This is a common issue because Hyper-V requires:
- a SLAT-capable CPU
- To enable virtualization parameter into the Bios settings
- To enable DEP
Data Execution Prevention (DEP) is a system-level memory protection feature that is built into the operating system.
To enable DEP, go to “Performance” settings:
and select “Turn on DEP for all programs and services”
Don’t forget to restart and try again to start your virtual machine.
