Creation of ‘netAppAccounts’ has been restricted in this region

Few weeks ago, I was working on Azure NetApp Files which is a great service in Azure to manage your data and your workload on the NetApp structure.

Bug

To work with Azure NetApp Files, you must create an Azure NetApp Files Account. Sometimes, when you try to create your Azure NetApp Files Account you may get the following error message:

(ResourceRestriction) Creation of ‘netAppAccounts’ has been restricted in this region

Fix

The first thing to check from your side is the region you try to use in order to create the ANF account. Depending the region, you may be restricted. All the available regions are visible on this page: https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/global-infrastructure/services/?products=netapp

If you already use a supported region, it could be an issue with your subscription. Indeed, I encountered a limitation with my Azure subscription which is a sponsor subscription with limitations. If possible, try to create the account on another subscription to confirm the problem.
