SCCM Task Sequence Failed with Error Code 0x80220005

When you try to deploy a new machine using SCCM task sequence, you may get the following error during the provisioning:

Unknown error (Error: 80220005; Source: Unknown)
Exiting with return code 0x80220005

Fix

When you type the computer name in the following wizard:

If the computer name is longer than 15 characters, then the OSD will fail!

Minimum name length

1 character.

Maximum name length

15 characters.

Note The 16th character is reserved to identify the functionality that is installed on the registered network device.
