Are you looking for a Windows Network Tool that can emulate packet-loss and/or latency?
The answer is Clumsy.
Clumsy makes your network condition on Windows significantly worse, but in a managed and interactive manner. It allows you to configure the network latency for the inbound and the outbound connection and you don’t need to install drivers which is great. Many other solutions required installing network drivers. Clumsy supports any protocol based on TCP/IP.
For example, you could use this network tool to test RDP protocol in your LAN because RDP has a low tolerance for packet loss.
How to use Clumsy?
- Download and extract the .Zip file.
- Now you just need to run « clumsy.exe » and that’s all!
Clumsy will choose which packets to capture by given filter. Below, I select « Lag » with delay greater than 100ms in Outbound direction (Destination Address equals 220.127.116.11).
When I click « Start« , delay time increases immediately.
Second test. Below I select « Drop » to randomly discard packets.
Note that you can also modify lag settings.
